Default excessive oil burning....WHY!?

ok sooo.... i know pretty much how to do anything to a honda but...
i just bought this 88 LX Civic and it smokes like hell. i've checked everything it could be... e.x. Valve Seals, Piston rings, PCV valve.... now i'm stumped. I noticed ALOT of carbon build up on the valves though. could that be it? or do i just need to adjust the valves? there's no emissions here but i'll get pulled over if my car looks like a driving inferno haha. some help would be great. thanks :D

What do you mean you 'checked' the valve seals/piston rings?
piston rings and valve seals you can't really 'check' unless you pull them out, and if they are pulled out they need to be replace anyways.

If your burning a lot of oil on a honda engine, possibly your piston rings are gone. Replace the valve seals/piston rings

correct, but saying it the way he said it implies that they were individually checked.

yeah i did the leakdown for the valves, and a compression test on the rings but it's all fine. the car sat for like a year. i'll try replacing the head. if that doesn't work i'll put my Ls/vtec in it.
