kinda worried about this, i was driving out of a gas station and felt/heard a loud POP sound..

i pulled over to look at the engine, underneath..didn't really see anything..

and now everytime i shift quickly, it feels as if something underneath the pedals clanks loudly...like something is loose (clutch horrible shape? linkage?)

i don't have access to a lift to really get under it for another 2 weeks (at school now)

any pointers on what to look at when i get a chance?

Take a look at the engine mounts. Have someone put the car in gear and move off and check to see how much engine movement you have. Remember to stand on the side of the car and not the front

 

anyone else have any input? could it be a linkage problem?

Your description sounds like a broken motor mount or maybe knocked an exhaust pipe loose leaving the gas station.
