even more grinding?
i have a 91 crx si with a dohc zc motor swap. i am using my 91 si tranny with 140,000 miles on it. i have to double clutch every time i go into 3rd or it will grind. it is also getting harder and harder to go into 1st. i would like to get a new tranny, but i have also heard of rebuilding. has anyone taken apart their tranny and replaced the syncros and gears? how hard is it?
only the japanese D15B-VTEC had the LSD tranny. it was from 92-00 and the tranny was called the S20. its the best sohc tranny, has a 4.25 final drive, LSD, and real close 1-5 gearing. its hard to find though.
unless you get a hydro kit, you can't use this tranny in your EF.
i'd find a JDM ZC tranny (LSD perf.) and then install your Si tranny's final drive.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential.
it allows power to be applied to both wheels during acceleration or turning. its good to have because it alleviates allot of understear and helps your launch when drag racing. Most honda LSDs are clutch type and require rebuilding after a certain mileage.

It is cheaper and easier to just buy a new trany but if you rebuild it, you'll know its in perfect condition rather then maybe getting anouther junky one. Single cam tranys are hard to work on...even harder the the dual cams.
