Default Evap Canister

There is a hole located on the back of the block to the bottom right of the oil filter. I noticed it runs down into the oil pan. On my 96 ls block this hole is capped by a peice of metal from the factory, on my 90 block the hole is open. Someone told me I need to buy some sort of canister to hook up, or can I just clog it somehow. This is an ls/vtec motor and I was just wondering what exactly i need to do.

On earlier model b18's they use an air/oil seperator. Its for the pcv system, notice the pcv is connected to it. On later b 18's there is a pcv on the valve cover. The whole system is in the block. When building an ls/vtec IMO its better to have the older style with a factory seperator. You will have a functioning pcv system.

Do you know where I could locate one of these? The pcv system didnt come with my block so ive gotta find one fast. Do domestics use air/oil seperators? Or is there any universal kit i could buy? I was planning on just cutting a perfect circle of metal and jb welding it over that hole? bad idea?
