engine toast????? HELP???
heres the deal. i built an engine and the headgasket did not seal properly. all fluids were put in and then the car sat for about a year like that. the engine has NEVER been turned over. when i got time to work on it again, i was coming close to getting a chance to try and start it. so i drained the old oil out and there was quite a bit of coolant in it. then took the head off and found that some paper-like debris got between cylinder sleeve and gasket. theres a tbunch of gunk in the waterjacket around the one cylinder where the leak was. the other 3 cylinders look fine. and theres looks to be come slight rust on the cylinder wall, the piston is at TDC and i dont know if it would be wise to rotate it at this point to check the rest of the cylinder walls.
anyways the finish came to a halt and now im at a lost as to what i can do now or if its a complete waste? i will get pictures asap probably wed. but from what you read is there anything i can do to clean up and salvage this block? there alot of tiem and money invested in the engine alone. completely built with aftermarket parts.
