engine temp gauge acting like a tach

I just installed a h22 into my '97 civic cx. The coolant gauce in the dash jumps up and down with the rpms of my motor. when I rev it up, the temp gauge rises andimmediately drops exactly when i put in the clutch. I know its not the actual temp because of the way it moves... any thoughts on how to track this down?

Look for a bad ground or short in the guage wiring

Yea it's most likely a bad ground. Even check the grounding cable that connects from ur tranny to the chassis. That's which one normally causes the gauges to jump all weird. Hope it works
