Default engine stutter

my 84 chevy van's engine stutters after i shut it off. any ideas as to why? i know its not a honda, sorry. its not even FI.

well its not a diesel. have you ever seen the original "friday" with cube, and chris tucker? well its like chris tuckers convertable pinto. i shut it off and it keeps sputtering with little backfires..... then stops after a few seconds

yeah thats called "disealing". The fuel is still combusting without any ignition.

yup a carb problem...just get rid of that thing, it wont pass smog anyways

excessive engine temp, also a defective jet cutoff valve (carb)..

simply it keeps delivering fuel to a very hot spark plug, in turn it doesnt shut off...

Some carbs don't even have a fuel shutoff valve.

Carbon buildup in the combustion chamber stays hot enough to ignite the mixture. Not very well, but just enough to do what you describe. Maybe clean it out with seafoam or something like that?
