Engine sputter ????
I have a 2nd Gen Integra w/ a B16A Swap, the car is strong running and is throwing no codes, but as you drive at any steady speed it kinda sputters or surges....if you push the pedal a little more it breaks free and accelerates. Whats up with that?? Help please it's very anoying.
This B16A has 2 O2's. One usese the existing ECU pin out and the other uses a pin out and I ran a wire directly to the O2. Have you seen this problem before?? I'll try it but the O2's are in similar locations (cyl. 1&4 primary and 2&3 primary)
i had this problem before and i just fixed it what u should do is unplug u TPS throttle positioning sensor and it should be fine ur car will still work fine with it not plugged in thats what i did with mine and it got all beter plus u might want to go ahead and buy that carberator cleaning fluid and just clean ur Idle air control valve and ur TB and intake manifold but i think if u just unplug ur TPS that should do good

dont run without your TPS
he is an idiot.
the tps controls alot of fuel related things
if the computer dosent know where the throttle is at it cant compensate for fuel and such.

Makes sense.....what do you think?? I'm not a beginer, but I am totally lost with this, it has been consuming alot of my time. Willing to try anything...
I have this problem too. I wondered if maybe my differential is going but now that you guys mention O2 sensors that could be it because I have 2 O2 sensor wires going into 1 O2 sensor which im sure isnt good but at least im not thowing codes.
oh yeah.....I heard that splicing the two o2 sensors into the main sensor input will make your car run like poo. YOu might want to fix that so its right. You should have one o2 sensor for cylinders 1+4 and one for 2+3. Go to a muffler shop or something and have them weld on some o2 bungs and do that **** right.
I have heard...although not sure if true....that if you splice the wires, then 2 cylinders will run lean, while the other two will run rich. There was some theory explained behind there thoughts as well, and it sounded correct. But not positive.

GET THIS MAN SOME MEDICATION,
please?

i have had my tp sensor off for one month and i havnt had a problem sense no it hasnt throw any codes at me and it doesnt surge anymore or even idle bad and if u think u need ur tp sensor that bad go get one off a differet tb just take ur dremal and make a slit so u can get it off with ur flat had screw driver.
TPS sensor ??? OK .....just try it and you will have the answer to your question. This WILL make your car run like crap .Ever finish a swap and forget to plug this sensor in and you know what im talking about.
HMMM... Engine sputter... I had this problem before...can would accelerate fine until about 2000...then would sputter to about 2700...and then power through it....turned out to be something with my distributor. I dont know exactly what it was ( one of the sensors was bad) i had a shop fix it ...so theres another suggestion for you .

it didnt mess up mine. its running fine if u guys dont want to believe me then go right ahead im just trying to give my 2 cents in this topic trying to help the man out and u guys give me crap telling me it wont work well thats ok cause it fixed mine and thats all that matters
I have the same setup and same problem,my JDM dc came with two O2s so I know it is not that.allmotorgurl it would be helpful if you could find out what part they replaced, was it the ignitor? Please help all of us!
You all are great!!!! Thanks for the input, my buddy has another Dist. and a Throttle body. I'm gonna swap the 2 out one at a time to see if this awful pain in my **** goes away. I'll get back to ya with some results....
Okay all, I went for a little ride and before I did so I unplugged the TPS, I knew I would get a light and had never thought it would drive like it did.....The car ran good, no sputter!!!! it runs good. I noticed it idled like poo but other than that and the CEL it's ok.
I think this is a poor fix and cant get myself to drive it like this daily, Honda put it there for a reason.....so I guess I know what I need to do. What do you guys think. Could it be the TPS itself, the harness, or the ECU??? I have the answer in my head but need back up.

ok, why dont you try adjusting hte TPS?
so that it reads about 0.48v at closed throttle and about 4.5v at WOT.
this should help if pulling your TPS off stops your problem.
it will also cause your engine to not 'know' when you are idling or accelerating so it will be in 'rich' mode which is BAD for your performance and mileage...
there will be no splutter as the ECU is not really thinking about anything - it is just runnning of preset fuel maps.

hey tinkerbell oo i thought i was wrong guess not but thats ok im not going to argue with you and as for duckiller what u can do and this is what i did is i found this throttle body that was in good condition at this junkyard i bought the Throttle body from them brought it home and i took the dremel saw and cut a slit in the screw that was rivited in and then i took my flat head and just removed it and did the same with the one that was on my car and just put the new one on and and it works good but urs might not be damaged like mine was so u might not need to do that all u might need to do is adjust it

teh engine will not run "fine" as you say.
the engine will run rich ALL the time, if thats OK with you - fine.
but it is not right.

one of the TPS uses is to tell when the car is at idle or at wide open throttle (WOT) or to tell when hte throttle is being rapidly opened or closed.
without this input the engine will not run "fine" as you say, it will run poorly at idle and wont have hte fuel cut whilst coasting
also hte ECU may not know to use teh IAC valve to adjust the idle beacuse it wont know where hte throttle is...
does this clarify the situation?
