Engine Rebuild?
Just a few quick questions.. sorry I'm a n00b to technical internal engine stuff...
1) What does a typical engine rebuild consist of?
2) How much does it generally run $$?
3) When should it be performed? On say, a K20A3 engine?
4) How long does it prolong the life of the engine?
5) How many times can you perform an engine rebuild before the engine cannot be rebuilt?
Thanks for all the help guys, I'm just trying to learn a little more about the engine side of my car, even though all I really do is have fun autocrossing

rings, bearings, valve seats, honing block, etc..
depends on what needs to be done..and you want done

Plan on $1000 for machine work... plus R&R labor

If you don't have to do any serious machining.. you can rebuild several times.. but if you mess it up.. once maybe twice at the most before you start making sacrifices

enjoy the autocross.. but you better seriously consider getting another car to drive to and from work.. or another car to race..
you will beat it up.. and you will be making repairs more often
Take this from someone who religously auto-xed and tracked his car for 5 years
