Engine Problem that i cant figure out, help please!
well i recently swapped a d16z6 in my 89 civic hatch 4 days ago and it ran good so far
on the interstate today it died on me. so i started it again while i was coasting and then i started hearing this rattling and clanking sound under the hood and my car started to over heat and run rough, then i lost complete power and it bogged down and died
I noticed the timing was off so i redid the timing and it started up but still a clanking sound and some rattling, so i checked the valve adjustment and it was all correct, and i looked at my timing again and somehow it managed to be way off again. im not sure whats goin on? or if maybe im about to throw a rod,
Any help would be appreciated alot! thank you

rotating assembly could be seizing/could have a bolt/object stuck behind timing belt covers, etc
Pull off timing covers and inspect. While the belt's off, see if the crank spins relatively easy, same with the cam

i got the timing to stay the same now, but the car is overheating quickly and there is a clanking sound and i checked there is nothing inside the cover,
could be a bad rod knock- how's oil pressure/oil level/sediments in pan, etc?
overheating could be related or could be a separate issue- head gasket, t-stat, bubbles, etc

could be your bottom end bearings. same thing happened to me with the same engine. took sump off and found a lot of copper/lead material. the knock sounded like it was comming from the head.
