Which Engine Management?
This poll is to chose a management system, I did not put MOTEC ot TECH 3 on this since they are alot more money. I saw the 7 second AEM Civic is running the EMS unit and seems to be a good choice. I've also seen alot of 9 second hondas running the ACCEL DFI systems ot Tec 2. Have not heard much on the Simple Digital Systems except the ease to tune with its own handheld programmer instead of a laptop.
*Explain your chose and ease of tuning and good or bad experieces with any of these systems.

each system has their own advantages and disadvantages.
EMS is great if you can stomach the price, hondata is a more moderatley priced managment system but its not something that you can adjust without going back to a tuner or buying your own rom burner.
i would personally go with the EMS. great system
(i didnt go over any of the other ones because i dont know much about them)

APexi Power FC..
this is a cool ecu replacement,
i personally ahve this on my car.
Pros
The fuel map and timing map can be expanded. What i mean, you can go down through 50 rpm increments or 100 rpm increments and adjust fuel, and timing.
controls vtec,
can adjust rev limiter,
can control boost up to 2 bars, however, they do offer a 3 bar program (special request only)
allows you to check duty cycle and a/f
Very easy to tune with hand held, and with laptop.
Allows you to see knocking by blinking of check engine light.
also allows you to see ping with check engine light.
This is like any other stand alone out there and offeres pretty much the same thing.
the reason why i chose this was i have seen and had great sucess with this ecu with all motor and turbo cars. Making them extremely save and reliable. I know ppl here will argue that all the stand alones out ther will offer the same safety and relaibility. Like i said before this is just my experience.
tunning only took 2 hrs (install took 15 min) and i yeilded a 12hrpower gain in the mid
and a 6 hp gain on top end. Total runs i made was 10.
the car feels extremely smooth, from first gear - 5th.
the motor feels extremely free and will keep going.
my base run was 174.6 and 119
finished run was 180.2 and 123 tq
my mods.
power fc.
ctr pistons in gsr block. over bored .25
type r head, with ctr pistons.
h22 injectors
4-1 dc 2.25 headers,
old school rsr/greddy exhaust.
no intake
no cam gears,
no msd,
with Cat
stock fly and act nonextreme clutch
i hope i have been helpful.

its not really a piggy back because its a new ECU chip.
a piggyback runs off the stock computer.

i got my used TEC2 for $600 which seems to be the going price. For that kinda of money i couldnt beat it. If you can find one get a used TEC2 for cheap. I like the TEC3 but couldnt affor dit at the time. I may be getting one soon. We sell the TEC3 whole setup for $2450 thats COMPLETE with crank pulley and all. Its easy to make a base map in also.
Apexi Power FC is my choice! Plugs right into stock harness, Works really well. It really depends on the tuners in your area. You could have the most $$$ engine management there is. If you don't have no one to tune it properly, it's no good to you.
Thats a good price but still need to make a custom harness right. No one really like the AEM EMS though do you guys at MID-Atlantic like it or use it on any of your cars, how about ease of tuning. Its more than half the cost!
There are quite a few people around here who use/tune Autronic engine control systems
Their systems are pretty powerfull (high resolution, true sequention injection, controls any injector, different ignition output options, AutoTune....etc.) The price will be in the middle range between the ultra-simple systems, and the other high-end units.
It's not really a matter of what systems are "better". It's more important to look at your needs, and finding what system is the best "value" for you.
You could get a EFIX system for $100 but if doesn't have enough resolution to tune properly, it's a waste. Or maybe you have a big wallet and buy a F1-xPro system for $5000 that has all kinds of bells and wistles. But if you have no customer/tech support, how are you going to use it?

The AEM is an awesome system, i just prefer to use the Electromotive TEC3. and the TEC2s are nice like i have on my personal car if you can find one cheap.
Electromotive
AEM
Both system manufacturers offer great techincal support.

Do you know if you can run DIS with the AEM EMS. Ive seen the AEM 7 second civic using them with the indidual coil packs. But i guess when you pay the $1100 for the ems and the price for the coil packs and trigger wheel if they are even available you could just buy the tec 3 for $2450.
How much Horsepower have you seen cars upto using the distrubutor style ignition?
Ive seen that accel DFI on alot of 9 second honda what about that system?

The race unit or both units? What trigger wheel do you use on the crank and what coils would you recommend using?
How much Horsepower is the distributor ignition good too?

Honda Distributors are junk, its a well known fact. And like you said once you get teh coil packs trigger wheel and all youll be spending close to what i sell the TEC3 units for which is $2375 complete. If you dont want to use a distributor from the get go i would get the TEC3.
Just my .02

Yes thry are junk, coil and ignitors always go bad especially when running high rpms!
I'll have to see after the turbo kit is bolted up. If I go with DIS then I will definately go TEC3.
Do you guys have a dyno at mid atlantic because i live in baltimore.
