Engine Loses Power when accelerating
Ok I have a 94 Honda Civic Hatch with a B18C1 GSR swap and me and my cousin just put a new head gasket on with new timing belt and water pump and completely cleaned the motor inside and out.
I didn't have a timing cover so I put motor in TDC and the car runs and sounds fine. It has good throttle response and when I am driving it normal just babying it it has power it will accelerate. but the problem is if I accelerate to hard it loses power like it sucks then once I let the rpm get down to around 2000 it has power and acts like nothing happened. but the check engine light comes on after it does the power loss. I need help I don't know what is going on. it loses power around 3500 sometimes 3000 rpm.
I don't know how to check the CEL because its a swap and my first Honda. everyone told me look for a green plug and I found a brown plug but no green plug anywhere. please help
and does the valve cover have to be grounded? I don't know if it does but I think It might have to because VTEC or distributor or something like that but I don't know its grounded to my intake manifold right now but use to be grounded to valve cover before I tore it apart.

ok update. my car is not all the way in time im guessing. but it is throwing codes 21 which is vtec solenoid and 23 which is knock sensor could that be because of timing im very confused about it.
