The car is a JDM ITR with about 88,782 miles on it. Last week I started the car in the morning for my daily commute to work. After about two minutes of warmup the check engine light came on and the car started to act like there was a plastic bag over the air filter, then it just died. I started it back up after about five minutes and it purred and drove as usual.
Two days ago, in traffic, the car just died all of a sudden, and upon startup died about three times agian but this time no engine light. After about five minutes off I swang again, and like the last time the car drove and idled as usual. On my way home the check engine light came on and the car began to studder so I kept it above 5000 rpm so it would not die until I got home.
The next day it started and drove like normal. I carried it to the mechanic who did a diagnostic check on the ECU, which resulted in the check engine light flashing in a sequence of three flashes, then a pause, then three flashes again. He told me that that meant that I need a MAP sensor, but I would like some more feedback as to what you guys on here think it is. Any opinion is appreciated.
