Default Engine harness/wiring problem (b20 in EK)

Hey guys,

We just swapped a '99 B20Z into my '96 EK. We are trying to use the B20 harness, since the stock one is all messed up because there was an OBDI engine in there before.

Everything hooks up on the engine side and we are using an (99-00)OBDIIb -> OBDI conversion harness with an OBDI LS ecu.

Now the problem is, the conversion harness is wired so that it needs plug A,B and C on the OBDII side. The CRV/B20 harness has 4 plugs..2 grey and blue and the green one. The 2 grey and blue plug into the B,C and D slots in the conversion. The green one plugs into the interior harness.

There should be a plug that fits into OBDII slot A, correct? Why does it only fit into B,C and D...I thought the CRV ecu plugs were supposed to be the same as the civics?

Here is what it looks like:

B20 harness only plugs into B,C,D

There is one problem here... I haven't worked with the CRV harness before to know how it is pinned... I assume that your CRV harness is pretty much identical to the OBD2b Civic's but I just cannot be sure as of right now... The problem is when using a '99+ Civic style harness in a '96-'98 Civic the green connector is not plug and play with your chassis... It is "pinned" differently and will have to be rewired in order to work... As for the connectors.. A standard OBD2b harness runs A,B,C just as you've said... I don't really know why Honda would run B,C,D but if they did then you'll most likely have to get a 99+ Civic harness and rework it or make a new jumper... Sorry I couldn't be more help... Is there anyway that you could take pics of the ECU pigtails and interior connectors??? Maybe I could see more of what is goin on... Good Luck

I will try to take some pics...not sure when I can tho, since the car is not at my house...

So you think I'd be better off finding an OBDIIa (96-98) harness instead?

I do have the helms for the CRV and I can confirm that the 97, 98 crv ECU plugs are wired identically to the 96-98 civic plugs. I do not know about the 99+ ones tho.
