Default Engine Building Techniques

Is there any way during an engine build, to ensure that after it is all complete, to be positive that you will not spin a bearing during the course of break in, and after?

Clean everything very well. Keep everything organized. Triple check all your clearances for oil. If you have ANY doubt about the ability for a component to hold a bearing, ie. welded crank or "slightly" spun rod, give it the water test: throw it in a lake, if it floats, it's ok to use.

plastigauge it or use a dial bore gauge(?) to measure the clearances between the bearing and the rod.

Don't consume any alcohol before assembling the motor.
