Other than the helms are there any good sites out there that go into measuring comp ratio and explaining the small details and characteristics of an engine? I am seriously considering doing a rebuild on my spare d series and need a little guidance as far as tools and crap. Any info is great! Thanks
I might try to write something of my own when I start putting the B18C1 back together.
Borders or B&N have engine blueprinting and rebuilding books that you can read up on. You can even buy them and return them later on.
You'll need to spend some hefty dough on measuring tools if you're really serious about the tolerances. I've got like $400 in micrometers and dial gauges just for this engine rebuild. Lots of one-time usage cost.

I also have considered documenting an engine build with details, but there are so many things, it would be better to learn next to a person with experience.
Damn, Ive spent more than that on mearsuring tools, and Im not done collecting them yet. But I do plan on using them more than once, and even try to make them pay for themselves.
