Default Engine builders I need camshaft help !

HELP!! I have just gotten i set of cams (used) and one has a knick in it large enough to catch a nail in. Can it be smoothed off with an emory cloth or sandpaper or is it now unusable ?

don't touch it with sandpaper. Is it on the journal or lobe? A machine shop might be able to fix, depends on how bad it is.

as long as its still smooth on the outside surface it shouldnt affect anything..I dont know if i would trust any machine shop to screw with those cams.. Ive heard horror stories.

I would rub it smooth with a super fine piece of emerycloth. Remove as little material as possible. I wouldnt bother with a machine shop.

Just smooth the edges and run it. Check it again in a month and see if anything is changing. You are probably ok.
