Default Engine apart, have question..

1993 Civic CX hb.

My exhaust manifold was cracked in half, so I removed it for replacement.

While I was there I thought.. "Hmmm, lets get rid of this old 8 valve cylinder head and throw on a 16 valve from a DX."

I pulled the CX cylinder head, but the intake side is different.

The holes are much smaller on the intake than the DX head.

Questions:
Since the holes are smaller intake side, can I bolt the intake on and go with that?

Should I do some home porting on the intake and match sizes? I can use the gasket as a template.

Is there another intake that will bolt on, and use the same harness? I can swap computer if need be.

thanks

ive tried this, but with a zc head. id imagine it would work with the smaller ports on the head and bigger ones on the manifold. damn that cx motor

couple of questions?
1) whats'a ZC head off of? (Si maybe, if so what year.)
2) How'd it work out for ya?
3) Any major modifications need to be made?

Maybe I'll go that route. I just need something to go on this damn CX motor....

I talked to the people at Greddy about some head questions that i had the tech guy said absoultly do not put a intake or exhaust manifold on a head that doesnt line up with the ports because you will never get a good seal and your car will run like sh*&

Hey EPrep, I'm local to you...I'll probably be at the team challenge.

What you need to do is use a DX intake manifold and throttle body to match the head. If you use a CX IM, the ports may not seal and you won't gain any power anyway b/c the intake runners are so tiny. I even have one around if you don't have one at the yard.

The ZC head is off of the Japanese spec CRX/Civic Si from 88-91, it's a DOHC D series 1.6 head an it does not fit on any other D series except for the D16A1 from the 1st gen Integras. Feel free to email me (Sonic@Honda-Tech.com) or PM me with other questions

Sonic, I'll have to look for you this Sunday. What will you be driving?

If I use a DX intake, does that mean I have to use a different harness...?

(Do you work at Central BTW?)
