get the stuff out of the way and use a wrench.....

make sure you guys follow the head bolt loosening sequence....

edit: why are you even taking the intake off....just leave it on and pull it with the head....

Yeah, I would just pull the intake out with the head.
The first time i took out my head, I took the intake off first, and it was a BIOTCH.
Space is too damned tight, much easier to pull intake out with it.

on the h22 i know there is a brace from the bottom of the intake manifold to the block, not too sure about the h23 though, but yeah its easier to leave intake manifold on with head

wurd.

Unless you have some crazy pimp *** tool, you're gonna have to remove the camshafts
to gain access to the head bolts.

Make sure you unbolt them in sequence 1/3 turn at a time.

Don't forget about the bracket that bolts the im to the block
or the water pipe that has to be disconnected.

Just remove the intake w/ the head; trust me.

It's much easier to figure out how to hook up the vacuum hoses than to try to get that bastard intake manifold back on w/ the motor in the car!
