Default Electrical Problem

Hopefully simple...

Car started with the dash lights barely flickering,

after jumping, the car ran fine, with stereo blasting,

After driving for a bit, I pulled the key and tried to start it again.

It was right back to the lights barely flickering.

Thanks for any help.

This is the same guy as the poster...

I thought if you had a bad battery, your stereo wouldnt play as well, maybe I was told wrong.

Thanks for the bump

If everything was OK after jumping and the stereo played OK, that tells me the battery is not charging but the alternator is working. I would clean the battery terminals and check the grounds first, but probably the battery is going away.

Awsome, sorry Mohudsolo, I never saw your post for some reason.

I dont think I refreshed...

I jumped the car and took off the battery cables, and the still ran. I believe this means the alt works fine.

Then I cleaned all the connections and found some nasty stuff growing underneaths the positive battery terminal I had bought from autozone. Cleaned those connections and the car seems to work now!

if the problem still persists it is your voltage regulator and it is inside of the alt.
your best bet is to just replace the alternator which are a little pricey
honda mostly uses mitsubishi and nippondenso alternators which are both expensive

it's not his alternator.
when the car is running the alternator provides power. when he stops his car there is no power.
you can have your car running and remove the battery.
the battery is just there for starting and for providing extra power for certain devices demanding a momentairy peak in power. eg blasting stereos.
