EG Hatch B18c1 Running Hot
Like the tittle says my eg swapped with a b18c1 is running hot on the highway after about 10 mins of driving id say around 4k + rpms (80mph) running about 75% of the gauge... the car runs perfect when im city driving which i dont under stand.... any help would be appreciated... things ive done to try and figure out... ive replaced the thermostat, radiator cap,did a flush about 4 times now, burped the system about 3-4 times, jumped the fan so it stays running... car is still doing the same (ive even ran it without a thermostat to see if maybe it was a failed thermostat and it still runs in the 75% range of the guage after about 10 mins of driving on the highway, I also did a compression test yesterday and it read 210 across the board so im not thinking it's headgasket..... + the car runs super strong... the only thing i can think of is Waterpump or Radiator, those are the only thing i havent replaced in the car since i bought it. Any Tipswould be appreciated... thanks Adrian
lol at crying. is it a stock civic radiator? it sounds like you've changed everything that influences high temps. maybe your water temp sending unit is just bad, although i've never heard of that happening. is the fan stock? does it have a shroud?
yeah it's a stock radiator from a dohc del sol so it's a metal one and it's dual koil... and yes it has a shroud.... im thinking it might be the radiator cap because when the car is off with the radiator cap on, i squeeze the top radiator hose and i hear air coming from the over flow hose..... and i think theres not supposed to be any air coming out unless the car is super hot and the cap opens....
i doubt its the cap but its worth changing because its so cheap. the sound you're hearing is because when you squeeze the hose, coolant is flowing into the overflow tank. when you open the cap when the car is cool is the radiator full?
^ yeah it's not the cap i just replaced the cap and it's still doing the same thing....... and yeah everytime i open the cap it's full... and like i said it only happens when the car is in high rpm's such as on the highway after 80mph which put the rpms around 4100 i just ran it in the city around my house for about 30-45 min and no heat up as i take it on the highway about 5 mins or so the temp rises to about 75% i dont know what to do other than a waterpump and new radiator and if that doesnt fix must be something internally

This happened on my d16a6. I replaced the thermostat, and the problem stopped. However, later on when I was beating on the motor for a while ... it turned out to be a blown head gasket later on, in which I replaced as well that took care of the heating problem.
Is the rad fan running in the right direction?
Kind of strange it would overheat, [run hot] on the highway, at speed, when airflow should not be an issue. 94

I suspect your radiator is restricted and does not have enough capacity to remove all the heat being produced when you're on the freeway. When you're just diddling around town the engine isn't producing as much heat as when you're on the freeway so the radiator has enough capacity to cool it down.
Ditto that, rad capacity is the only thing left, replace with full size triple core.
I autocross and found that my LS engine would run hot towards end of circuit when I used a lot of nitrous oxide, [long sprays], problem solved with a triple core. 94
