Default eg constant cel

ok I picked up a new hatch last week b16 already installed. when I test drove it was flashing code 17 for vss. got it home and code was no longer flashing just solid cel. try to pull the codes by jumping the scs get no activity. ground the d4 scs pin at the ecu no activity cel just strays on solid. removed ecu for 15 min and plugged back in cel on solid not really sure where to go from here its a jdm p30 ecu. all wiring seems to be fine. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Solid cel often is bad PCM or loss of communication from PCM.

Solid check engine light is no codes. Check the vss wires at the sensor and test the vss.

And to give a little more clear explanation the cel would always stay on solid checking codes or not.it wouldn't give you the cycle key to the on position comes on for two sec then goes off then comes on solid just always on.then this am was decel in gear no jumper write attached to scs pin and then on its own starts flashing 17 again

sounds like d4 is constantly being grounded.

I'd check the wiring harness and see if someone wired in a toggle switch or permanently grounded it.

When the code is cleared, the mil will stay solid until it comes back and starts to blink 17 again

I cut the d4 wire thinking that same thing made no difference

One thing I was wondering is will vtec engage while in scs mode if not that would explain the problem

The VSS and SCS both seem to go the one of the two H1Cx boards at first glance.
With D4 clipped I'd check there.

Do you have another ecu to try? I'd even throw a p28 in for one second to see if your code issues go away and vtec works.
