EFI 101 tunning class, anyone here attend it before?
Hello, I've been in this Honda Industry for a little over 6 years now, i know a thing or two when it comes to trouble shooting, engine rebuilding, and the basic stuff that most of u guys know. But when it comes to tunning a car im clueless, I was informed by a H-T member about the efi101 class, and have couple of questions for people who have taken that class, especially for people that first had no clue in tunning just like me.
For u guys that first had no damn clue in tunning, did this class help u to actually know exactly what to do when it comes to tunning a car? or did it just give u general ideas on tunning but left u tune less?
Did u guys have to take the advanced course to actually know everything?
Will u know what equipments are used in a street/dyno tune? or u have to figure it out yourself?
I have talked to some guys here on H-T before about this class, but they already knew how to tune cars before they took the Efi 101 class, so they were a set higher than me before they took it. I want personal experience from tunners that did not know how to tune before the class like me. Thanks

I still kind of want to take the class, but after reading the book cover to cover (Ben Straders EFI tuning book) , I am a bit concerned about a few of the inacuracies I found, but as far as I know, it is supposed to be the bast class you can take.
I have, it is a really good class. 101 tells you all the basics on how the engine works and the theory on how to tune it properly. It gives you all the basic information on how to tune but does not actually give you any experiance. If you are taking it to just learn more, take 101 but if you are trying to become a tuner take both 101 then the advanced.
does begginer people really know how to tune after the efi101 class? or to actually know it u have to take the advanced?

101 gives you the information to tune, Advanced just gives you actual tunning experiance (ie. 101 = reading+lecture and a demo, advance = you tunning cars on the dyno).
you will have a idea on how to tune but you probally wont want to go out and start tuning lol..baisically it will give you a better idea on what air fuel timming a motor is looking for and what you need to do to get the motor their ,,if you want to actually start tunning take the advanced class it is more hands on

so the advanced is just like me tunning at home right? i just don't have a dyno, can i do it on the streets? i live in the country side of town and i can rev my car all day long out here and no one would care. lol

AssDyno's are not accurate, You can get a good fuel tune on the street but fuel is not where you make power; AFR's are used for heat control. Timming is where you make almost all your power and tunning on a dyno is the only way to get it right. And having someone looking after you while you tune a car and guiding you while doing so helps ALOT. So to your answer your question... No, tunning on your streets is not the same.
NO 101 will not teach you much more than the basics of engine theory and the WHY of tuning not anywhere close to the HOW!!!!!
Yes advanced I believe you may get an opprtunity to tune a little But if you want ALOT of dyno time the ACP is the class. However the class will teach you little about "street tuning" and ALOT about tuning on a load bearing dyno.
