Default ECU's - p13 vs p72

I'm in search of wisdom on the differences between the p13 and p72 (or any other "superior" ecu for that matter). Obviously each ecu has different timing and fuel maps, but are there also advantages in the p72's "design" over the p13. I know you cannot use a p13 ecu with Hondata. Also people with big Prelude buildups tend to switch to a p28 or p72 with custom programs and then further tune those. Basically, are there any weaknesses with the p13 other than the things that can be modified such as the program it runs that you do not have with a p72 or other ecu?

Thanks,
Mike

Actually any of the ECUs code can be modified to do whatever you need... However, the P13 is less known by most tuners/chippers because it has totally different code than P07/P08/P28/P30/P39/P61/P72/P91 and those types of common VTEC ECUs... It is just as capable as the rest of them but most people won't know how to tune one because the code is so different...

P13 and P72 are the only two ECUs that support the GSR and H22 Intake Butterflies stock... So if you'd like to keep those running correctly, I'd recommend getting one of those... If you're going to tune it out on a dyno and don't care about the IABs or have a different intake manifold altogether I'd say get a P28 or other cheap readily available ECU and work with that...

Hope this answers your questions...

James
