Default ECU harness pin install

I'm trying to push a pin in a blank spot on the A harness of an OBD1 harness. It'll go in more than half way but then the crimped end interferes with the connector so it won't go in all the way. I don't think the back of the connector comes off does it? If it doesn't, I'll chalk it up to having the wrong pin.

i'm a little confused, the back of the connector has 2 flaps that open outward, if you don't open the one on the side you're trying to insert the pin in its not gonna go in. look at the plug closely and you'll see the flaps, also make sure the pin is oriented correctly, the 4 sides aren't all the same, if its upside down or sideways it may fit, but it wont lock into place.
