ecu ??????
i have a 90 integra ls with a b16a swap and a chipped pr3 ( the chip says mugen in marker) i got it because the ecu had spoon tape on it so my dumb *** didnt open it and look 4 my self but anyways now my vtec switches over at 4500 but i dont feel any power difference till around 5300 what the hell is that all about?
the ecu came out of a crx with the same swap and it ran like a champ but as soon as i put it in my car mine runs like **** his crx has nothing else done but a unorthodox pully i dont see how that would make a difference though
The pulleys must have made the difference I guess. The mugen program may be bogging you down with too much fuel. Try adjusting your FPR if you have one.
We can get you a better ECU chip than that mugen/spoon garbage for you. We create custom ECUs programs per application. Our work pulls waaaay harder than those chips, and the people we've worked it wont ever go back to mugens or spoons.
Take note that there are certain "spoon" programs that have similar ignition and timing as "mugen" programs. We've even seen some "custom" tuned chips running identical maps as Mugen. Hope this helps.

hey man its crazy you say this because i have, well had the EXACT same set up as you and let me tell you from about a years experience having this same *ahem* mugen chip in a pr3 ecu w/ b16a, i was not pleased with the results... my chip made my car run too rich and vtec kick in at 4500 rpm, well if you know much about honda engines or just driving cars in general you can tell that vtec should NOT kick in at 4500 rpms its just too low and youll notice it bog down all the time, its really only good in first gear, and if your smashing down the freeway in 5th vtec will pop in and pop out you can actually hear it because its tryin to kick in then it bogs the engine back down 200-300 rpms then when it gets back up just boggs it down again and eventually stays in vtec... well if you want my advice id suggest removing the chip and keeping your stock vtec unless you put in some cams or other internals.... and even then you shouldnt lower vtec but jump it up a little... lowering vtec is just some stupid advertising gimmick that would make sense in theory but realisticly just does more harm than good...
