ect sensor problems!! cant figure it out
ok I have a 96 civic hatchback with a jdm b16 second gen...
I have a CEL code 6 which is for the ect sensor... so I went bought a new one
check engine light still on
I followed the procedure of testing the wiring for the ect sensor and its getting close to 14v to the connector... good or bad?
I kno my ecu aint bad because I had the ecu to my last 96 civic coupe with the same engine...
I know theres a coolant switch but my fans work so its good
I know theres a coolant sender but my temp gauge works so its good...
I dunno what else it could be... any help would be great...

If you are getting 14v and you are testing the correct wire, then your sensor is not your problem. You might wanna try an other known working ecu.
Are you using the USDM engine harness from the 96 Civic or something else?
According to my wiring diagrams the wire colors for the ECT sensor are red/white from ECT at ECU/ECM/PCM, and green/black from junction connector and ECU/ECM/PCM.
The ECT sending unit is a yellow/green.
The ECT switch is a black and a green.
Again according to my wiring diagrams, but then it is just a Haynes manual. 94

Odds are he's testing the wrong sensor. OP, you should be testing the two prong connector under the distributor. There is another sensor that is one prong. Leave that one alone. Test the other one next to it.
Im testing the right one... I no theres 3 different ones I said that at the beginning...
there good my fans come on and my temp gauge works... n im pretty sure the switch and the sender wont turn on the cel light...
the engine harness that's under the hood is all jacked up the wires coming from the coolant sensor connector is blue/black and black.... n they cut the wires and added speaker wire to make the wires longer... and the coolant sensor itself is new... its stupid...
but whatever I just wanna get this check engine light out..
and im testing the two wire connector under the dizzy...

Not exactly what asked, what I asked was, "Are you using the USDM engine harness from the 96 Civic or something else?"
If the engine harness is not from a 96 USDM Civic, wire colors may be differant and finding the problems or tests to suggest will be impossible, more so if the harness is "all jacked up".
We want to help you get it fixed as much as you want it fixed, but we need to khow what we are working with.
What color are the ECT sensor leads at the other end of the speaker wire. 94

ok well its not the colors you said so my guess is its another harness... the colors are blue/black and black, and at the other end of them speaker wires its the same colors... blue/black and black..
I have some instructions from AllDataPro and it says the white/red wire ur talkin bout but its making it hard cuz the wires on my ect sensor connector are different...
I was thinking just take the engine harness out and follow the wire n see if its corroded/damaged somewhere...

ok code 6 came back on..... I took out the wire harness and replaced the wire I got a new ect sensor and a new radiator fan sensor... the fan comes on the ecu is good n the ect sensor is good... I have no idea what else to try.. any ideas??
