Default ecotec vs vtec

this has probably been answered but my brother just bought a cobolt base model. i haven't drove it yet but is ecotec anything like vtec. does it engage like vtec or no. i looked a little bit online for this answer but i like this website better. thanks for your help.

A stock ecotec engine is junk. It works on the same idea as the vtec but not with the same intentions. eco is for economy. Economy is not for power. Lots of people that don't know will just assume that its gm's vtec but they could not be more wrong.
