Default Changed my piston rings

I have changed my piston rings - should I now go carrefully for some first kilometers or can I go hard from the first kilometer?

You'll find some mixed answers here about this. Some people say just go like hell, most say take it easy for 1000 miles so I guess you can go 1609.334 km if you'd like. My thinking lies somewhere in between.

though thoughts will vary, i say go for at least 500 miles before really whooping on it and taking it to redline often. i did almost 1,000 miles before really beating on the motor.

lots of stop and go, up and down miles are needed to break it in properly and quickly. letting the motor idle between 2500 and 3000 rpm for about 20-30 minutes after replacing the rings is good to help seat them, then change the oil to get rid of debris.

Someone told me to go 1000km very carrefully, then change the oil and go other 1000km carrefuly, then I can go hard. After that firts 1000km, I will change to some racing oil 10W60 (blended).

it's more for the rings to seat right.... i've noticed after we rebuilded a GSR that in the first couple hundred clicks it would smoke a bit if you went to 6000.. but after about 1000km it would stop.... so I think this would be a good idea to break in..to prevent scorring or potential cylinder wall problems down the road.

Opinions, I agree are wide spread on this topic. My experiences tell me to change the oil after the initial 2500 rpm for 20-30 minute routine, then drive low rpm, heavy load, ie uphill conditions for a bit, then downhill for a while. Varying driving conditions is the best way to break rings in. After a few hundred miles change the oil again and you are good to go. I still wouldn't redline it at this point but thats just me, just should be ok to do so if you have to.
