My brake light stays lit on the dash because my ebrake doesnt go all the way down. It bobbles up and down before that first click so obviously its loose. I took off the armrest and i notced that the thing holding both lines was not equal and there was a black piece that was not hooked up to the line nipples. Youll see in the pictures. Is that part supposed to be unequal and what does that black piece do? Please help me!

well, that black thingy...garbage for all i know.

theres a bolt in between the two cables, attached to the e-brake handle, thighten that sucker, untill it takes about 5 clicks to hold the car with the brakes. I'm sure the uneveness is normal, since the brakes are self adjusting..varify someone plz

 

well i tried tightening the bolt, it would tighten a little and then jump back down, idk if its stripped or whatever. What i do see is that the ebrake cables are loose, since they go back to the rear brakes, can i tighten them just like bike brakes?

 

well fi you cant thighten em, replace the whole thing if you think its stripped... and i dont think you can adjust the cables at the brakes...check pads while your at it.

just keep tightening it after it pops back out it does that cause the shape of the bac side of the bolt

 

This happened to me too and I think alot of us with rex's.

What it was on my 88 is that the auto-adjuster on the back brakes weren't working and leaving play. I tightened the adjuster by hand till the brakes just rubbed and backed them off two clicks. Then adjusted the E-brake handle nut.
You might have to loosen the nut a bit before you adjust the brakes.

If you can jack up both sides and inspect them to see if they are the same. And also check the little arm that is suppose to rest on the adjuster wheel.

 

well i know that hte black thing is

its a radar detector mounting bracket. those littler holes are where the suctiong cups go to hold it to the windshield lol.

as for the adjust ment, i would say, make sure the ebrake is off, then straighten the silver metal bar and turn the nut with a wrench. if it won't adjust... get a new one

 

Its ok if its not even. Thats the whole point of it being able to pivot so it will equalize pressure on both sides.
