Ebay upgrades, does any of it work?
If you really spent 10 grand but then have to come back and ask questions like these you can see how someone might have to turn around and have to dismiss everything you might have to say.
Tell you what, get the Ebay stuff. Get the downright cheapest kit/parts you can buy. Come back and tell us how you're doing after 6 months or so.

Seriously. Stop advising these people against it. Encourage them to buy cheap. They obviously don't want the benefit of anyone's experience, only someone to say that's it's okay.
there going to do it anyway even if you tell them not to a budget is a budget,
if i were you piece it together get some used stuff but good quality
only egay thing i would get is intercooler and piping just get good cuplers

don't rush it a lot of people like to rush, that's were you start buying cheap stuff and messing your car up. just relax and safe money get good stuff little at a time
it takes some people around a year to get there kit together, but the end result is better and will outlast any ebay kit

If its all the same grade of metal then its the same regardless of the name. How can quality piping and metal be different than ebay metal and piping? It can't unless the grade of metals is different. I can understand the pictures like the turbo above coming apart because thats just garbage, but there has to be some use for the items on ebay. I know the cheap couplers fail that come with the turbo kits, but they won't fail if you can weld. If the turbo goes out then replace the seals or spring for a little better one. So are the ebay kits really junk? Or is it because of lack of aptitude of those installing the cheap ones?
Of course if I spent the kind of money I did on an N/A build I would buy quality parts for a turbo setup. I was speaking for someone on a budget. Could it work? Not saying I myself would buy an ebay kit.
I also said if you start upgrading performance your likely hood of failure increases. So no matter the parts you use, you're dealing with aftermarket and failure is inevitable.

If you do it right it will last. If you maintain it, it will last. Same as with the car itself. I'm running almost 3 years on an entry level Greddy turbo kit I pieced together, on a stock block. No issues. Why? Because I maintain it. The key thing is to do it right and get parts that will last.
Now if you don't want to, because the car isn't worth it or your budget is small and you're impatient, then get the cheapest components you can find.
So maintenance and High dollar parts will make a 600whp turbo 4 cylinder just as reliable as when the cars were OEM...Hmmmm I'm sick of hearing that crock. Everyone should know that if you mod your car reliability goes down.
and dont think your going to drive a 600 hp civic daily
And I love how you want to go the extreme route with this 600hp number. But yeah. Even THAT, maintained properly will be reliable. In extreme applications longevity decreases, NOT reliability.
And yet, I still have had no issues with my boosted D. Maintenance! Just like if a car was stock. Don't maintain it and what happens? BTW. Just because you owned a car for a long period of time does not necessarily follow that it was reliable while you owned it.
