Default Ebay turbo kit

should i buy this ebay turbo kit for a D series? guy is askin 500 but i could probly talk him down.. I have a d16a6 right now, should i build the head and slap the turbo on and run it at 8-10 psi for ***** and giggles, or screw the turbo and wait till i have enough money to drop a fresh z6 with bigger turbo set up? either way im getting a z6 leter on, im just wondering if it would be worth it to have a simple turbo setup on my ls engine for now.

What's in the kit?
BTW it's frighteningly apparent that you don't know anything about turbocharging an engine.

everything is in the kit, turbo, manifold, piping, wastegate, blowoff, intercooler.. etc.. and i know the basics of the turbo, im not no expert though.. It would be my first time ever installing one, but ehh haven't we all been there?
i know i gotta set up the vaccum lines, an oil line to the turbo, fresh tune, blah blah blah.

Im just asking would it be worth it or not... like a beginner step to my big build..

The original NEW price was probably $500...seller most likely used it and is trying to get his money back

Become an expert. My first and only turbo build is still on my car running strong because I educated myself before I bought a single part and NEVER had to ask a single question on a forum to do it. I didn't use that "I'm learning" excuse.

But go ahead and get it because you probably will anyway regardless of what we say. You can report back and tell US if it was worth it.

There fun kits to learn off of,rather screw up a 500 kit then a 3k kit. I'm running a eBay kit at the min,I bought the car like this but I'm switiching everything out for a better kit by end of summer so I can tune when it's hot, plus I'm building a d16z6 as we speak trying to build up to 400hp on E85. The eBay kits make sure you run big injectors and a good fuel management but have fun with it I'm at 15 lbs stock d16z6. Yes bone stock 289hp tuned at church by Shawn and even he laughed when it made that power.

You, sire, are a class 'A' Dick.

This is a forum, *******. People don't come to these websites because they are ******* experts on the topic they are posting about.

I have never taken a single lesson, a single class, a single bit of education on how to maintain or modify cars in my entire life. My entire automotive maintenance and modification experience has been from forums such as this one and my own trial and error. Since, I have used what I have LEARNED FROM FORUMS, am now 23 years old, hold an A&P License and maintain F-16s for the United States ******* Air Forces, scoring in the 98th percentile in the mechanical portion of the ASVAB (97th in Electrical) and drive a swapped, modded, very clean, and fun EG hatch. Built by MOI.

So **** YOU, sir, **** you very much.

If you are not on this website to share your 'expert' knowledge with people who use the "I'm learning" "EXCUSE", Then GetTheFuckOff and good riddance.

With love, from someone who is STILL LEARNING.

Go for it, **** will be fun.

Reliable? No, but that can be fixed. Ride it out and take it easy (Sub 10lbs of boost) until you save up the money to replace the turbo's seals/bearings. People do it all the time. If you baby the turbo for a about a month and replace those parts, you should be golden.

Yes I am. To people that want to be spoonfed. Which anyone worth his salt will tell you should NOT be done when turbocharging an engine. The only people that seem to have issue with a straight-forward non-sugar coated real answer are the people that want their hands held. Listing your credentials also does not impress anyone. So THANK YOU for adding absolutely NOTHING to the discussion. If you had a problem with anything I said you should have reported it or contacted my via PM and not cluttered the forum with it.

BTW, nothing he asked could not have been answered with 10 seconds on Google and by browsing through the...wait for it...Forced Induction forum right here on H-T (who, BTW has an EXCELLENT FAQ that would have also answered this tired question)!

And recommending him to "go for it" and "learn from it" is stupid. Do the research, get the right parts, do it right the first time. Let's buy a kit, replace everything in it, and now I have two turbo kits. And he has an LS but is going to replace it for a Z6 later? What? So I'm going to go from a potential 300 on a stock B-series (that I already have) to only 200hp on a stock D-series? Not THAT makes no sense.

And check it, links in my signature to all of those resources I mentioned. Did any of you, including Mr. High and mighty notice them? Nope.
