It is from the lazy sob's who did your alignment. To install the wheel sensors for the alignment machine, the hubcaps have to be removed. When they reinstall the lugnuts with the hubcaps removed, they only install two lugnuts per wheel with the plastic washers removed. That way, they can just slide the hubcaps over the lugnuts that are on the wheel and use the remaining lugnuts that still have washers to hold the hubcaps on. One of my pet peeves is lazy mechanics.

This was one of a couple of things that seemed wrong with my alignment, My rear camber kit was also ajustable -4 to +6 (SPC) and the insisted that they couldn't ajust it more then -2.5 degrees and had to leave it .5 degee off. I agrueed with the guy for a minute and he still insisted that it couldn't be done and didn't want me to show him how to ajust it. Sould I go demand my money back???

The plastic washers are no big deal, but personally if it was my car, I would be kinda pissed. And if the service rep was unhelpful, talk to a manager and explain that the camber is adjustable to spec ( show them the instructions from your camber kit) and insist that it be done correctly. If the manager is not responsive, call the customer relations department of the company that operates the facility. You should be able to get some resolution to your situation.

yeah go in there and be like, " i paid $250 for the camber kit simply so i could pay you guys to adjust it for me. and you gave me the run-around, didnt adjust it right, and charged me anyways." see what they think about that. dont be an *******, though, be respectful, or they wont help you out.

That's pretty much standard operation. You can always go back and ask for them to be reinstalled. The tech will probably grumble and groan, but he should put them back on.

Find a shop that knows how to do performance alignments. I'm spoiled. I can walk into a local shop and say, "give me an autocross alignment", and they know what I mean.
