Dry Ice intake??
Hey has anyone seen the new intake that 01designsystems now puts out. THe intake with a closed compartsment for dry ice that freezes the tube and supposably drastically lowers intake temps? Any one have yay's or nay's about this?

I think its a ok idea, the dry ice would take a few hours to evaporate. people have been doing this for a long time by cooling fuel lines

Yeah, i saw it in the back of teh newest honda tuning. The site is 01designsystem.com. They sell just the box with the tube in it for teh dry ice but the way it looks it'd be easy to make your own.

Good god, they want $200 for the box alone.. Ill go and make it myself for that.. Since im not a good welder(at all), I wonder if I could make it out of wood and just seal the wood really well..

Isnt that a good thing.. Im going to put a release valve on there so that the fumes from the dry ice evaporating can escape..

I dont know either but i gues it wouldnt hurt to try. Keep me posted. Me, i think i might take a trip down to the welding shop and build mine out of metal and plexy glass like the one they made. Or we have a welding class at school i could just have them do it.
I can weld one up.. But after im done welding it looks like big bird took a **** on the box.. I usally have to wb weld stuff to get it to seal correctly..
just throw some ice into your intake before you race, lol
yeah i have seen people do that at drag races, they just put ice packs onto their intakes, and take them off RIGHT before the race.
i dont think it is worth the time or effort to do that though, and for such low gains...you are better off running a 5 shot of nos, lol.

Well im wondering if it would make a bigger difference on a boosted car.. I know my intake charge is like 100 degrees or so crusing.. I bet with some dry ice I could get that down even more..

Very true...for about 500, you can go way faster than 200+dollar dry ice setup.

Its just something that I thought of doing in my spare time using to scraps of wood I have laying around the house.. Im just wondering how much of a difference it would make in the IAT temps..
Its an old school trick from the domestic side of the house. You would put the dry ice in a plastic bag, and place it all over the intake manifold. Then right before you hit the burn out pit you remove it.
