Default drilling a larger bore for fuel

Has anyone bored out their stock fuel rail on a 92-95 vtec to a 1/2", or maybe 9/16"? Online you can buy larger bore fuel rails for $100+, but I'm thinking if I can't find a drill bit long enough I could always get it done up at a machine shop cheap. Then at the same time I can get a fuel pressure gauge drilled/tapped/installed just as easy. Dose anyone have any input?

Why do you need a larger bore.Stock one is good for at least 350hp.

once the rail is pressurized, it doesn't make a difference. i never understood why people use aftermarket fuel rails.

So you can run an aftermarket external fuel pressure regulator..

so why wouldn't you just drill and tap the stock one?

The pressure can be changed simply by installing a fuel pressure regulator, but buy boring out the fuel rail allows for more flow, greater volume of fuel to each injector. Greater fuel on hand could make a huge diffrence (although as someone stated you won't need it until 350hp). Thanks people.

Boring out the fuel rail doesn't do anything about the flow resistance thru the tubing from the tank, thru the filter, etc...

Because people are lazy and would rather buy something that already has it done and have the 'peace of mind' that it'll work correctly.

It takes themselves out of the error equation.

And honestly, if you're looking for things to bore out, then look to the banjo bolt connecting the fuel filter to the feed hose.
