Just like the topic asks. Just curious because my friend is avoiding hitting up a local autox event in August because he says his tranny is brand new. I say it doesn't make a difference, it's not like a brand new engine...what do you guys think?

Unless it has a clutch-LSD, drive the **** out of it. If he installed a new clutch, do break that in.

I would take a little bit of time to wear it in, and possibly flush the fluid after about 1000 miles or so just to be safe, but I've never heard anyone say that a break-in period is required for a tranny. I would think everything would need to settle in though, so a break-in period would be the way I'd go. August is a ways away though, he might just be chickening out though.
