does IACV improve hp?
sorry don't bag on me , new to engines and i can't find any answers for this. but i just got a working IACV on my car and it idles good now. my old IACV wasnt working so i covered the opening with cardboard and barely idled and my rev stood right above 0rpm, now when i got a working iacv, i idle around 1 rpm. the question is, does this improve its hp in anyway? and besides giving a tempurature reading and deciding how much airflow to give to the engine, what else does it do?
my car felt really slow back then and i can't drive it atm because i got my liscence revoked , tryna fix my car so when i do get my liscence back , it runs perfectly.
oh and i have a d16y8 maybe that's why i feel slow.

1rpm is 1000rpm. Each tick is usually 100-200rpm
Im sure you know iacv stands for Idle Air Control Valve.
The only thing it does is control the idle air bypass so you have a smooth idle. It does nothing else. Your car feels slow because its just slow.

If it was installed incorrectly then it will produce a vacuum leak, which leans combustion and will reduce power. If you're idling at 1000 RPM, you may have a vacuum leak. Or it's just not calibrated correctly, in which case you should pick up a repair manual.
