does gas eat through super glue?
I was putting a higher-flow fuel pump into my brother's GSR and I snapped off the little white 'stick' thing that the little metal retainer goes onto to hold the filter onto the pump.
So basically my question is, can I use superglue on the plastic part of the fuel pump, or will gas eat through it?
I heard of another guy on H-T that did the same thing and used super glue, but I don't know how it held up over time. TIA for any help.

Hmm never knew that, I've only seen it used on metal.

I don't think that'd be strong enough considering that it'll be moving/vibrating with the car for years.

Dude;
Super glue,or anything else similar, is not a fix and shouldnt be used in a vehicle.
Do it right and replace the part. Plastic weld is the only suggestion i woul do. If done right you can make 2 pieces 1 solid one!

hey, i'm the brother with the gsr. is there a particular brand of plastic weld you'd recommend? i heard from a friend that the plastic weld takes like 5 days to dry or something (he might be talking outta his ***, i dont really know). i need to have the pump in by wednesday night.

JB weld takes around 8 hours to cure. Try plastic welding it with a soldering iron first by just melting the plastic together with the tip (I have never heard of a brand of plastic weld?) then use jb weld on top as a double dose for increased strength.

Yeah just use a soldering iron and melt a lil plasti fromeach while close together all the while "smearin" the melted plastic over the join. You can even melt a piece of zip tie into the mess ti add a lil more plastic.

that's exactly what we ended up doing.
