seafoam on tank question
Hi, I want to ask about how the seafoam works in fuel tank. Does it smoke, really help or just another clean fuel system crap?
Moderators if you feel this thread is wrong delete it, But here in H-T is where i spend my car time.
I have an Altima 2006 3.5 as daily, this cars not have inline fuel filters just the strainer in the pump Assy. The filter is showing symptoms of clogging usually alibied by Techron. But recently is more often and i was planing on the Seafoam treatment. Does this stuff really works, and how it behave while in tank ( i hear about clouds of smoke)? I want to try not to buy the new $350.00 pump ASSY.
Thanks

Re: seafoam on tank question
You can't clean a fuel filter by pouring concoctions into the gas tank. They're designed to trap dirt and not let it go. If by some miracle the dirt did come loose, where would it go? Correct, into your engine.

Re: seafoam on tank question
I have used it on 2 stroke engines. It does work on them. It removes the carbon/unburned oil goo that builds up in the ring lands of the piston, restoring lost compression from sticking rings. But that is more from soaking the engine with it for days at a time. Come winter I would tilt the out board (25hr evinrude) to where the spark plug holes are pointing up and down. and pour it in the plug holes and let it soak for about a week. after a week I would spin the engine then put it away. Come spring fire it up and let the smoke out. I verified it works by removing the exhaust port cover to see the rings and lands, Yep it does work. actually brought my compression up to 110 from 100 psi/
As far as 4 strokes, it will clean carbon off the top of the piston, it does nothing for the fuel filter
