Default are JDM ecu's programed for 100 octane?

I just bought a JDM p30 ecu for my ls/vtec engine and it runs really funky with it. First of all, could it be because it is programed for 100 octane in jap, or is this not true, please help, thanks

Yes, JDM P30 ecu's run weird sometimes, it's partly gas related (timing maps). Does it seem to hesitate n' give...hesitate n' give... ? You should get it reprogrammed
