I'd assume (do not take for actual knowledge) that a B-series alignment tool would work on all B-series since the transmissions are all interchangable and the spline must be the same then.

Not they are not all the same. I'm not familiar with d, f, h, or k series.... but for b series there are two different alignment tools. 89-91 b series trannies use one alignment tool. And 82+ b series trannies use a larger alignment tool.
