DIY portmatched TB
i would like to portmatch my tb to my blox intake mani. so what do i need for a DIY. im thinking a dremel tool with a metel bit and a new tb gasket for a template?
is this right?
is this right?
Port matching a throttle body to a manifold is not really a DIY project. Your throttle body should be CNC machined to an exact diameter. Other wise your throttle body butterfly is compromised and it will not control the intake air correctly. If you are talking about port matching your intake to your TB opening that is a bit more of a DIY project. Easily done with a Dremel and a few different size carbide burs.
If you need to match your TB to your manifold I would suggest buying one to match. Or sending your TB out to be bored to your size and fit with a new butterfly. Maxbore.com is a well known name in the overbore TB game.

well im a big DIYer and where i work we cnc/bore flanges and tubing so do you think if i had the correct diameter measurement i could have one of my machinist do it and what all would i need to take off of the tb besides the obvious butterfly? also would i need to replace the butterfly with a larger diameter one when finished?
thanks for your help by the way.
i have all the RIGHT tools and knowledge to do these kind of DIY's at my job, hell if i had some bluebrints of turbo manifolds and headers i could make them as well.
i have access to a mandrel bender, tig welders, machinist, cnc machines, etc.,etc., so no worries there i just need dimensions and measurements

If you have access to a machinist that knows about boring valves then you should be able to do it. There isn't much left to take off the throttle body once you get the butterfly and throttle leaver off. Talk to your machinist and verify that he will be able to taper bore the TB a strait bore is not what you are looking for. You will also need to find a butterfly to match the size of the final bore of the TB. The butterfly, if bought as a slug, will need the proper machining done to the leading and following edges. They are not cut at 90• angles. If you buy an oversized butterfly that has the edges machined then you can see if your machinist can bore match your TB to that.
