Chop the leg off that the Vtec solenoid is in the way of. They you will only use the top bold to hold the distributer in. Thats how mine is, and I have had no problems with it.

Yes... i think i stated that in the begining... but what im wondering is are all the vtec distributors the same or are there different ones for the different heads... that is the whole thing about what im asking.

I've been told their bolt patterns are different by year, but. I have an 89 b16 head and a new SI distribuotr with only 10 miles. I was told they wont fit but it bolts up in all three places, so I would assume yes.

All Vtec distributer bolt paterns are the same, and all non-Vtec distributer bolt patterns are the the same.

I think the distributor may be going bad on my h22. I've got an old d16z6 distributor sitting around. I think the bolt pattern will fit, but the cap seems to be rotated 180 degrees a different direction. I think it may still bolt up... what do you think? Can I use this distributor on my h22?

Nope... they are completely different. So not all vtec distributors are the same bolt pattern
