Default distributor timing

if the distro timing is 180 degrees off would that affect spark?

edit: <U>If</U>you could get it to line up with your cam, it wouldn't effect spark, but your firing order would be fucked up, obviously.

what will happan if the part that goes into the camshaft wont be aligned proparly like OEM (180deg off) from the shaft/rotor?

well just figured out my problem and it was 180 off. if it was 180 off it just keeps cranking over and over....but now i have a little rough idle and think it needs to be retuned

It's not possible, unless you put the dizzy in, and then put the cap over it, which would break it, the key in the intake cam is offset to one side, preventing this from happening, if it does not go in, it's not aligned right, turn it 180 degrees and it will fall in.

if ur goin to retard the timing from the distributor.. is it going to the IM or going to the exhaust manifold?

No, counterclockwise for advance, clockwise for retard.
