distributor tech question!
I have to ask this, My friend had modified a single cam distributor to fit a dohc b16 head! The b16 is in a obd1 setup, and the single cam distributor was obd2 rewired w/ obd1 plugs! My question is this: When he attempted to fire it, it made a pop sound?? Then he cranked it again and it almost started, kinda started to rumblr to life, then he shut it off? So he figured that the distributor wasn't going to work after all? I was under the impression that the only reason that the single cam dizzy's wouldn't work cause they didn't bolt up? Or is it something else that makes them not work?
well for one your friend is a cheap guy for not even buying the right dizzy for his head. That could have damaged a lot of things. Possibly could have even fried wires. My advise would be to get the correct dizzy from a B series and then get it to work
put the engine to TDC and pull off the dist cap. Make sure the rotors is pointing at the #1 wire terminal.
If it isn't, then you possibly have the wrong shaft in the dist, or it's just not going to work anywya
