Distributor question
I have a 90' hatch dx and my distibutor was making noise so I figured I would take it off and clean it and the cap. I sprayed it down with some carb cleaner and wd40. thought maybe cleaning it would stop the noise. I put it back on just fine, didnt force anything and put all screws back in nice and tight. I get in and it started for like literally a second and died and now will just crank and crank. It was snowing when I put the distributor and cap back on and got the distibutor wet and maybe the cap. Could that be my problem? Oh and the distubtor doesnt spin freely its kinda rough and turning the opposite way locks it. I probably should've just left it alone, but does it sound like its shot?

It sounds like some kind of debris rattling around in the bottom of the distributor.
The CKP, CYP, & TDC sensors are magnetic. It's normal to feel the pull of the magnets as you spin the distributor shaft, but it shouldn't be rough & grinding. And it DEFINITELY shouldn't lock up when you try turning it backwards.

since it is no longer working it must be the ignitor or the internal coil. Before he sprayed wd40 it couldve been debris. i had the same problem. Just go to the junk yard and buy a 30 dollar used distributer or go on ebay.
