i just got a brand new distributor and i put it on. all i did was line up the shaft and plug it in. i started the car and it didnt work. so i took off the distributor and the shaft of the distributor broke off.

my question is that if u install it wrong, will it break? does the shaft part easy to break easily?? is there a correct way to install it? what is the difference if the shaft is put in the opposite way?? help please!! i need to know this

 

ive put mine in backwards before...(it was late, i was tired)...it made a funny noise but didnt hurt anything....On the other hand my friend with a b16 in a rex siezed his shaft up and tore the inside of the distributor all to hell...there really wasent a reason why.....just happened...

 

Take it back and tell them if was a product defect..good luck though b/c your gonna need it.
