If anybody could help me with this I'd be very appreciative. I just dropped my tranny, because I've been having some problems with the car shuddering on acceleration. When I look through the hole of the diff, I see clear through it as if the tranny is lsd, but I am almost certain that it is not. I'm wondering if something inside the diff broke and that is why I can see through it. Is there any way I can see if the diff is okay by opening up the tranny case?

The tranny is a jdm (or so I was told) gsr tranny. I know lsd was an option on gsr's in japan, but I've done the test where I raised the front off the ground, put the car in gear and held one wheel. The other wheel spins freely.

What tranny is it? Look on the sticker on the top left of it.

 

It says Y80 on it, but I was under the impression the tranny code didn't say much.

 

Congrats, you have an LSD equipped transmission.
LSD was an option on that transmission.

 

That shuddering you felt was the LSD locking.

 

Hmm... that's great if I have one, now lets hope it's not broken!

I don't think it was the lsd locking up beause I was accelerating very slowly from a stop.
