OKAY speed velocity, You need to be reported to a mod or something for blatently trying to promote your website. Go home... and stop posting about your b20, that has nothing to do with b20b vs b20z
you can probably tell which cams it has then, by the size of the throttle body. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the giraffe intakes' have a 56mm tb?
bigger TB = higher revving cams
smaller = lower

exactly....
He pm'd me saying that he was "trying to help us by showing us what a b20 looked like"
Well, if u were trying to promote your name, "speed volocity" I will never buy anything or support anything from your website.
Good job

All the info on mine:
Engine: 98 JDM B20b.
Head: P8R-7
Block: B20B, 5007274
Tranny: Auto
Cams: P75 Cams
Intake Manifold: Tall Intake Manifold from USDM B20b
Head Gasket: 3 Layer
Knock Sensor: None
Pistons: Unknown
Hmotorsonline.com said it was a 9.6:1 compression motor and they compression tested it before sending it to me. I am currently trying to find out how to tell if they told me the truth without pulling the head. The engine is not in a car yet.

You SURE you have a 3 layer head gasket? Did you look carefully? If so, then my theory about the 2 layer head gasket creating the 9.2 compression is probably right......
96-98 b20b with 3 layer headgasket (p3f pistons) = 8.8 whether it's JDM or USDM (however, the 97-98 b20b most likely has a 3 layer headgasket and 8.8 for sure anyway).
96-98 b20b with 2 layer headgasket (p3f pistons also) = 9.2 like the japanese honda website says. Perhaps only the 96-98 jdm b20bs with the low rise manifolds came with a 2 layer? possibly?
99+ b20b and b20z have the higher compression phk pistions and 9.6:1 compression
Unless someone else would like to explain it. I am 100% sure my 96 jdm b20b has a 2 layer head gasket...

So whats the deal with the P75 cams?
Has anyone found a single B20b that didn't have p75 cams in it?

I have the P-75-5 head but it says p3f on the block. How do I tell what layer the headgasket is? Mine is thinner so I think I have the lower compressoin engine. It does not have the knock sensor on it and I dont know what cams were in it cause I sold em.

well, we do't know for sure if this 2 layer gasket p3f piston theory is true yet, but check where the head gasket sticks out and count the layers.
I'm still not clear on where it says p3f on your block. The front, the back, is it covered up by the tranny? I want to see if mine has it stamped on too, but its installed.

hell yeah? what are you talkin about?
p3f is just below the IM and may be hard to see. Its right by the edge of the block about mid way from the bottom of the engine. How do I tell how thick my headgasket is?

take a look at page 1 of this thread and troll has posted pictures of where you can see the head gasket sticking out. You should be able to just count the layers

So they can lie, charge you more and tell you JDM=9.6:1.
Hmotorsonline.com will be changing their website info after the talk I had with Steve (The owner) a couple days ago. They thought all JDM motors were 9.6:1, so I had to straighten them out.

Yeah what did he say? I called him no answer, he charged me for the high comp engine and I didnt get it. What did he say? Id be intrested to find out what his excuse would be.

He tried to play it off like it wasn't his fault. He did offer to exchange mine for a 9.6:1 comp motor if he could find one, but I suspect he will just turn around and go "Oh, I couldn't find one, your loss." I talk to him again tomarrow about it, and I'll let everyone here know what happens. I'd be happy with him sending me a set of PHK pistons and paying somebody to put them in for me.
I'm not about to swap the pistons on my own time for his mistake, and I won't keep an 8.8:1 comp motor.

Neither will I (put up with 8.8 compression). Im going to call him today and see if he will reimberse me cause @ the time he had a sale going on. It was 750 for the lower compression B20. I paid 800 for the higher one. Im pissed. I mean what can I do to make up the power?
