the adjustable ball joint is easier to adjust on the alignment rack. the other type is a little tougher to adjust.

Do the tires have to come off to adjust the ball joint?

Make sure you have plenty of travel with the adjustable ball joints. I have the SPC units on my 91 Civic, and between worn out Skunk2 coilovers, and Neuspeed Koni's which are maxed out height wise with about a 2 finger gap, I have holes in my shock towers.
